Quagliarella's hat trick leads Juve over Pescara
Pescara, Italy (Sports Network) - Fabio Quagliarella scored a hat trick as Juventus rebounded from its first Serie A defeat since the end of the 2010-11 season Saturday with a 6-1 win against overwhelmed Pescara.
Juventus had its 49-match league undefeated streak snapped last weekend with a loss to Inter Milan, but hammered Nordsjaelland, 4-0, in the Champions League on Wednesday and returned to form domestically against Pescara.
Arturo Vidal and Quagliarella scored inside 22 minutes and, after Emmanuel Cascione scored for Pescara in the 25th, Kwadwo Asamoah and Sebastian Giovinco added goals in a seven-minute stretch before the 40-minute mark.
Quagliarella scored his second goal just before halftime and completed his hat trick in the 53rd minute, as promoted Pescara got a taste of life against the league champions at the Stadio Adriatico.
Juve won for the 10th time this season to open a four-point cushion over Inter at the top of the standings. Pescara slumped to its sixth loss and sits 20 off the pace in 14th place.
Cagliari 0, Catania 0
Cagliari, Italy - Catania left the Stadio Sant'Elia on Saturday unbeaten in its last three Serie A matches as it played to a 0-0 draw with Cagliari.
The two sides remain separated by one point as Catania moves into sole possession of seventh place in Italy's top flight with 16 points and Cagliari improves to 15 points.
