Quagliarella's brace helps Juve topple Chievo

Turin, Italy (Sports Network) - A pair of second-half goals from Fabio Quagliarella allowed Juventus to secure a 2-0 home win against Chievo, keeping the Old Lady perfect through four Serie A matches.

Juventus took the game to Chievo from the start, and the match was scoreless at halftime only because of some inspired play by visiting goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino.

But Juve finally beat Sorrentino in the 63rd minute when Quagliarella made a well-timed run into the area and floated under a ball before sending a volley off the hand of the 'keeper and into the net.

Sorrentino got his hand to another of Quagliarella's shots five minutes later, but also failed to keep it out after some good work by Kwadwo Asamoah.

Chievo offered up very little in response after going behind by two goals, and the club has now lost three of its first four games.

Parma 1, Fiorentina 1

Parma, Italy - Parma and Fiorentina played out a wild 1-1 draw at the Ennio Tardini on Saturday in a match that saw both sides miss penalty kicks in the second half.

Fiorentina grabbed a 1-0 lead at halftime through a 20th-minute goal from Facundo Roncaglia, while Parma missed a chance to level the match in the 56th minute when Jaime Valdes had his spot kick saved by Fiorentina goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.

Stevan Jovetic had a chance to seal the win from the spot for the Viola in the 88th minute, but he also failed to score from 12 yards, leaving the door open for the home side.

And after Fiorentina's Luca Toni was called for a handball inside his own penalty area in stoppage time, Valdes redeemed himself by beating Viviano with his second penalty kick attempt of the match.
