Report: Patriots' Hernandez out "a few weeks"

UPDATE: According to a source for ESPN, Hernandez is expected to be out until at least October.

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez left Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals in the first quarter with an ankle injury and he did not return.

Early reports suggest that there are no broken bones in Hernandez's ankle, but he is still expected to miss up to six weeks, according to ProFootballTalk.

Hernandez, who caught six passes for 59 yards and one touchdown in Week 1, was seen leaving the stadium in a walking boot and on crutches. This is bad news for a Patriots team that fell to 1-1 in a game where they could have used Hernandez's size and catching ability.

The Patriots visit the 1-1 Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.
