Romero loses 13th straight decision as Blue Jays fall to Mariners
Ricky Romero surrendered three runs through four-plus innings to remain winless in 14 starts, as the Blue Jays fell to the Mariners, 3-2 in Toronto. He is 0-13 over that span and has not recorded a win since June 22.
Romero is the first left-handed starter since at least 1918 to lose 13 straight decisions in a season.
Franklin Gutierrez's two-run single in the fourth inning was the difference for Seattle and Miguel Olivo added a solo home run in the second of three games at Rogers Centre. The Mariners also beat the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
Kevin Millwood (6-12) allowed two runs on two hits and a walk over five innings, while Tom Wilhelmsen tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record his 26th save of the year.
Edwin Encarnacion's two-run homer accounted for Toronto's offense as the Blue Jays dropped their second consecutive contest on the heels of a four-game win streak.
