Cowboys' Witten cleared for Week 2

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says that injured tight end Jason Witten has been medically cleared for Week 2, according to ProFootballTalk.
Witten has been battling back from a lacerated spleen that he suffered against the Oakland Raiders in the first preseason game of the year. Despite Jones' encouraging words about Witten's Week 2 status, it does not bode well for those expecting Witten to suit up in Wednesday's regular season opener against the New York Giants.
Officially Witten has been listed as "doubtful" for the opener. The nine-year veteran underwent CT scans on Tuesday, but the Cowboys have been very secretive about the results.
Witten recorded 942 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 79 receptions last season.
