Ravens release K Cundiff, seven others
Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Ravens have released veteran kicker Billy Cundiff.
Cundiff, 32, connected on 28 of his 37 field goal attempts during the 2011 regular season, but missed a potential game-tying, 32-yard field goal with 15 seconds left in Baltimore's 23-20 loss to the New England Patriots in last season's AFC Championship Game.
The Ravens brought in undrafted rookie kicker Justin Tucker out of the University of Texas over the summer to compete with Cundiff.
In eight seasons with the Cowboys, Saints, Browns and Ravens, Cundiff has gone 132-of-172 on field goal attempts and has missed just one of his 201 extra- point tries over 101 games.
The Ravens have also released tight end Davon Drew, wide receivers Devin Goda and Patrick Williams, offensive lineman Addison Lawrence, center Cecil Newton, cornerback Jordan Maybin, quarterback Chester Stewart and long snapper Patrick Scales.
The cuts do not become official with the NFL until tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET.
