Giants CB Amukamara carted off with leg injury
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara sustained a high ankle sprain in the first quarter of a preseason game against the Chicago Bears on Friday night while making a tackle against receiver Brandon Marshall.
Amukamara could not put much weight on his right leg after the play. X-rays were negative and the Super Bowl champions announced the results in the third quarter.
The Giants' first-round draft last year, Amukamara missed the opening part of last season after breaking his foot in training camp. He took over a starting spot this season after Terrell Thomas aggravated a knee injury that sidelined him last season.
Amukamara was in the news this week after a teammate tweeted a videotape of him being thrown into an ice tub at training camp by defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.
Giants linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka strained a groin on the final play of the first half.
