Pirates place Marte on DL

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates placed outfielder Starling Marte on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain on Sunday.

Marte, 23, hit .253 with four homers and 10 RBI in 23 games this season in his first major league action.

The team recalled outfielder Jose Tabata from Triple-A Indianapolis to take his place. Tabata hit just .230 in 72 games for the Bucs this year, but was batting .297 with 15 RBI in 41 games with Indianapolis.
