Report: FIBA proposes 3-on-3 Olympic basketball

Patrick Baumann, the Secretary-General of the International Basketball Federation, and his staff are planning to propose that a three-on-three basketball tournament be added to the Summer Olympics, according to USA Today.

"Like volleyball has beach volleyball, swimming has synchronized swimming, we want three-on-three to be part of it," Baumann said.

Baumann added that he hopes to have the competition implemented for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro.
