Harangody leads Notre Dame over Seton Hall
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Luke Harangody posted 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the seventh-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a 68-56 victory over the 10th-seeded Seton Hall Pirates in the second round of the Big East Conference Tournament.
Tory Jackson added 13 points and six assists for Notre Dame (22-10), which will take on second-seeded Pittsburgh in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Jeremy Hazell tallied 15 points in defeat for Seton Hall (19-12). The Pirates also got 14 points and nine rebounds from Herb Pope, as well as 10 points from Eugene Harvey.
Seton Hall jumped out to an early 11-2 lead, but Notre Dame answered with a 13-4 run and went on to own a 28-21 advantage at intermission.
A 16-of-23 shooting effort from the floor over the final 20 minutes enabled the Fighting Irish to claim the victory.
Notre Dame, which has won its last five games, connected on 52.7 percent of its field goal attempts in the tilt while limiting Seton Hall to 34.5 percent.
