NHLPA memo suggests league wants to decrease salary cap
The New York Post has obtained an NHL Players’ Association memo that was given to its members in regard to what the NHL has proposed during the most recent three days of meetings.
Under a new collective bargaining agreement, the salary cap would be set at $50.8 million with a cap floor of $38.8 million based on 2011-12 figures. According to the report, this would represent the lowest compensation for players since the 2002-03 season.
The current CBA is set to expire on September 15th.
