Report: Red Wings make big offer for Rick Nash

The Detroit Red Wings have reportedly made "a hell of an offer" for Columbus Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash, according to mlive.com.

After failing to land defenceman Ryan Suter, with a monster $90 million offer, the Red Wings have not given up hope that they can acquire a top-tier impact player. Most recently the Red Wings have extended an offer to free agent forward Shane Doan.

Now, with the free agent market dwindling, the Red Wings have reached out to the Blue Jackets in hopes of acquiring Nash. The Blue Jackets however, appear to have no interest in trading their franchise player to their Central Division rivals.

The Red Wings will likely have to move on from Nash, and continue to pursue Doan, despite Nash including the Red Wings on his short list of teams he would accept a trade to.
