Report: Phillies prepare contract offer for Hamels

ESPN's Jayson Stark is reporting the Philadelphia Phillies are preparing a 'sizeable' contract offer for Pitcher Cole Hamels in an effort to determine whether the club can get the left hander signed in the next two weeks.

Stark states the market for Hamels has been set by deals like the one signed by Giants Pitcher Matt Cain, who signed a five-year, $112.5 million extension earlier this year.

According to one of Hamels teammates, the San Diego native wants to wait till the end of the year to assess his options.
