Canada plans to bid for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Canadian Soccer Association president Victor Montagliani tells CBC Sports that they plan on placing a formal proposal to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"The FIFA president has acknowledged to us and others that it needs to come back into this hemisphere, to our region CONCACAF. So that's what we will work towards.” Montagliani said during the interview.

The World Cup has been held in North America on 3 occasions, twice in Mexico in 1970 and 1986, and most recently in the United States in 1994. Canada will host the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2015.
