Maple Leafs sign McClement to two-year, $3 million deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs kicked off their free agency period by signing former Colorado Avalanche forward Jay McClement.The deal is said to be worth $3 million over two years.
McClement, who stands at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, joins the Leafs after seven seasons in the NHL split between St. Louis and Colorado. In 2011-12, he posted 10 goals and 17 points with the Avs in 80 games. His cap hit was $1.45 million.
The 29 year old centre is noted for his penalty killing and faceoff ability. However, since 2008 he has lost more shorthanded faceoffs than any other player in the NHL at 785.
