Lakers' Sessions opts out of his contract
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Ramon Sessions has decided not to exercise his $4.5 million player option for next season and become an unrestricted free agent instead, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Sessions was acquired by the Lakers on March 15th in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, after Lakers starting point guard Derek Fisher was traded to the Houston Rockets.
The 26-year-old, South California native played 23 regular season games with the Lakers this season, averaging 12.7 points and 6.2 assists per game.
There still stands a good chance that the Lakers will re-sign Sessions to a different contract. For now they are left without a starting point guard, while Sessions becomes an unrestricted free agent and can entertain offers from any team.
