UFC reshuffles cards due to injury, Calgary show hit hard
TORONTO - The injury bug continues to hit the UFC.
The latest fighter sidelined is Brazilian middleweight Luiz Cane, who was slated to meet Japan's Yushin Okami at UFC 150, set for Aug. 11 at the Pepsi Center in Denver. Cane will be replaced by submission specialist Rousimar Palhares.
Saturday's UFC 147 card at Belo Horizonte, Brazil, has also been affected by injury.
Middleweight Daniel Sarafian has had to withdraw from his bout in the final of "The Ultimate Fighter Brazil." Sergio (Serginho) Moraes, who made it to the semifinals of the reality TV show, will take his place against Cezar (Mutante) Ferreira.
The featherweight finale features Rony (Jason) Mariano Bezerra and GodoFredo Pepey.
UFC 149, slated for July 21 in Calgary, has been hit particularly hard by the injury big.
Fighters forced to drop off the card include featherweight champion Jose Aldo, heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, light-heavyweight Thiago Silva, middleweight Michael Bisping, welterweights Thiago Alves and Yoshihiro Akiyama, and bantamweight Bibano Fernandes.
