Report: Seven teams have interest in Rick Nash
As many as seven teams have held "significant" trade talks with the Columbus Blue Jackets about acquiring forward Rick Nash, according to The Columbus Dispatch. Columbus were rumoured to be close to trading Nash in February and talks have heated up again with the NHL draft on the horizon.
One of the leading suitors is supposedly the New York Rangers. The Rangers bowed out of the playoffs at the hands of the New Jersey Devils in the Eastern Conference Finals. They scored a pultry 2.15 goals/game in the playoffs, which was the 2nd lowest figure by any team that has ever advanced out of the first round.
Other teams rumoured to be interested in Nash include the Maple Leafs, Sharks, Flyers & Hurricanes. Three or four other teams have reportedly "kicked the tires" to see what it would take to get a deal done.
The 27-year old Nash, had 59 points in 82 games for Columbus this past season. He has career-highs of 41 goals and 79 points. Nash has only made one playoff appearance, in 2008-09, when Columbus was swept by Detroit in the first round. The Brampton, Ontario native is under contract until 2017-18, at $7.8 million per season.
