Tigers place Dotel on DL
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Detroit Tigers have placed pitcher Octavio Dotel on the 15-day disabled list because of right elbow inflammation.
Dotel last appeared in a game on June 2. He is eligible to return June 18.
The 38-year-old right-hander is 1-2 with a 4.42 earned run average in 21 games this season, his first with Detroit. He has surrendered four runs in 2 2/3 innings over his last three appearances after going six games without yielding a run.
Detroit recalled pitcher Luke Putkonen from Triple-A Toledo to fill the vacant roster spot. The right-hander appeared in six games for the Tigers earlier this season and has a record of 0-2 with an 8.59 ERA.
