Dynamo unveil Garcia as Designated Player
Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo announced Thursday that it has signed Honduran midfielder Oscar Boniek Garcia as a Designated Player. Per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Garcia has played for Honduran side C.D. Olimpia since 2007, helping the club clinch the 2011-12 Honduran League Apertura and Clausura championships. He also has been a staple with the Honduran national team, collecting 67 caps after making his debut in 2005.
"Oscar is a good player and I have always liked him," Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear said. "He is a versatile midfielder and a good athlete and should do well for us. He is a good signing for us and the league."
Garcia will be added to Houston's roster pending the receipt of his P-1 Visa and international transfer certificate when the transfer window opens on June 27.
