Larionov on Yakupov & Galchenyuk to Leafs: "possible"
The Toronto Maple Leafs might be making a big splash in this year's NHL entry draft. According to former player and current agent Igor Larionov, Toronto met with his clients Nail Yakupov and Alex Galchenyuk after Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Larionov said there is a chance Toronto will try and draft both of his prospects.
"It is possible that the Leafs are going to trade their draft pick and get both of them." Larionov said. Toronto holds the 5th overall pick in this year's draft.
Yakupov and Galchenyuk were teammates on the OHL's Sarnia Sting. Yakupov finished the season with 69 points in 42 games, while Galchenyuk only played 2 games due to a major knee injury. Last season, Alex had 83 points in 68 games, while Nail put up 101 points in 65 games.
Sarnia was eliminated in the first round of the OHL playoffs this season by the Saginaw Spirit, 4 games to 2.
