Winter steps down from TFC post, Mariner takes over

TFC head coach Aron Winter has stepped down and has been replaced by former England International Paul Mariner.
Mariner, the former director of player development, will take over as head coach, and it is expected that Thomas Rongen has been promoted to technical director.
Winter saw some success with Toronto. After being named the head coach on January 6, 2011, Winter helped coach the club to its third consecutive Canadian Championship, earning a spot in the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League.
Winter helped TFC to the best finish in Champions League play in Canadian history, with a trip to the semi finals. He also has some negative records under his belt, with the worst start to a season in MLS history, with a 0-9-0 start to this season.
In 64 matches as TFC's head coach, Winter has a 18-25-21 record.
