Angels' Trout named AL Rookie of the Month

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Mike Trout was voted Rookie of the Month for the month of May.

Trout, who made his 2012 debut on April 28, led all qualifying AL rookies in games played (27), at-bats (108), batting average (.324), runs (21), hits (35), triples (two), walks (11) and on-base percentage (.385). The 20-year-old also finished second in home runs (five), RBI (16) and slugging percentage (.556).

Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks, Minnesota Twins pitcher Scott Diamond, Toronto Blue Jays infielder Yan Gomes and Chicago White Sox pitcher Nate Jones also received votes.
