Ewing ruled out for Bobcats head coaching job

Patrick Ewing has been officially ruled out as a candidate for the vacant Charlotte Bobcats head coaching position, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Bobcats owner Michael Jordan personally informed Ewing that he was out of the running for the job.

The team plans to wait until after Wednesday's Draft Lottery to see where they will stand in the draft before they begin the second round of interviews.

The Bobcats finished the 2011-12 season in dead last with a 7-59 record. To make things worse, the Bobcats broke an NBA record for the worst winning percentage in history, 0.106, surpassing the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers, who held the record with a 0.110 win percentage.

Ewing has been an assistant coach for the past five season with the Orlando Magic.
