Goodell to decide fate of Pro Bowl very soon
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell released his media briefing from the 2012 Spring League Meeting in Atlanta on Tuesday. On the forefront of the discussions were player safety and the Pro Bowl.
The most recent Pro Bowl was met with much criticism and boos from fans. The 100-point total score of the game, second highest in Pro Bowl history, left many questioning the integrity and need for an All-Star game in football.
"I felt like some of the guys on the NFC side embarrassed themselves," Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said following the game. "There should be some pride involved in a game like that, and I was just surprised by some of the efforts by some of the guys."
Goodell said that the quality of the game was discussed extensively in Tuesday's meeting, and that he hoped to have a decision regarding the Pro Bowl in the near future.
"I've said it repeatedly, particularly since the last game that we have to improve the quality of that game," Goodell said. "If we can't improve it and can't make it more competitive, then we shouldn't play."
