Caparros staying on at Mallorca

Mallorca, Spain (Sports Network) - Mallorca announced on Friday that coach Joaquin Caparros will be remaining at the club after signing a new deal for next season.

Caparros had a contract that ran out on June 30, but after leading Mallorca to an eighth-place finish in La Liga this past season, the 56-year-old has been handed a new deal.

Michael Laudrup resigned from Mallorca last October, paving the way for Caparros to take charge.

In addition to Mallorca, Caparros has managed Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla, Deportivo La Coruna and Villarreal in La Liga.
