Steve Nash named GM of Canada Basketball

Canada Basketball announced the hiring of two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash as the new general manager for the Canadian National Senior Men's Team. Rowan Barrett will be the assistant general manager.

Often viewed as the face of Canadian basketball, Nash helped lead the 2000 Canadian Olympic team to it's fifth best finish ever, losing in the quarter-finals and ending the tournament in seventh.

In 2004 Nash was once again leading Canada on the court at the Olympic qualifying tournament. Canada finished fourth in the tournament and failed to earn one of the three qualifying spots for the Olympics. Despite being named tournament MVP, it would be Nash's last time in a Canadian Olympic uniform.

In 2007 Nash announced that he would no longer participate on the Canadian National Team.
