Report: Leafs' Brian Burke meets with Blue Jackets GM
Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke and Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson reportedly met in New York on Sunday, according to a tweet by Jeff Marek of Sportsnet. ESPN New York's Katie Strang also reported the "unscheduled" meeting.
Burke was in New York taping a segment for HBO, while Howson's Blue Jackets are playing the Rangers Sunday. The two general managers reportedly talked over breakfast.
Earlier this week, Columbus received the teams believed to be on Rick Nash's list that he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause for, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
The list is believed to include the Boston Bruins, San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old spoke to the media prior to Sunday's game in New York, ``I just worry about today,'' Nash said. ``Right now I'm a Blue Jacket, and that's what matters. I've played my whole career here, and that's how I'm dealing with the game I've got to play in two hours. That's all I'm worried about.''
The Blue Jackets have not denied that their former first-overall draft pick is on the trading block. Nash has posted 527 points (277 goals, 250 assists) in 650 career games with the franchise.
In 2009 the Blue Jackets signed Nash to an eight-year contract extension worth $62.4 million, effective through the 2017-18 season.
