Cain, Giants talk long-term extension
According to CSNbayarea.com, Matt Cain has interest in signing a long-term extension with the Giants, and would prefer to get his contract resolved by the end of spring training. Cain said, “We’d all like something resolved by the end of spring training. I don’t think either side wants that to linger into the season.”
The 26 year-old is scheduled to make $15 million this year but will be eligible for free agency following the 2012 season.
Cain has posted a 69-73 record but has a 3.35 ERA and 1.20 WHIP through his first seven seasons with the Giants.
