Ibanez to the Yankees seems likely

According to Newsday, an agreement between Raul Ibanez and the New York Yankees seems very likely once the A.J. Burnett trade gets approved.

The 39 year-old hit 20 homeruns with 84 RBI’s in 144 games with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Yankees have expressed interest in the veteran to replace Jorge Posada as the team’s designated hitter.

Yankees would also like to re-sign Eric Chavez, but there have been conflicting reports on whether the Yankees can afford to sign both players.
