Red Wings Jimmy Howard sidelined with broken finger
The Detroit Red Wings will be without starting goaltender Jimmy Howard for at least two games while he recovers from a broken finger, according to NHL.com
Howard reportedly suffered the injury in the Red Wings' 4-3 shootout victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. The 27-year-old goalie did finish the game, recording his league-leading 32nd win of the year.
The Red Wings have been fortunate, benefiting from Howard's stellar play. Despite making only $2.25 million per season, the former second-round draft pick is tied for seventh in the league in save percentage and ranks fifth in the league in goals against average.
Currently first in the league in points, The Red Wings are 32-11-1 with Howard in the net and 3-5-1 without him.
