London calling
Canada's women's soccer team booked their trip to the 2012 Olympics in London with a 3-1 victory over Mexico on Friday night in Vancouver.
Canada will join the United States, who beat Costa Rica 3-0 on Friday, as CONCACAF's two representatives at the London Games, which will hold a 12-team tournament in women's soccer.
Christine Sinclair, who is now tied with American Abby Wambach for the third most goals scored in international play (129), scored twice for Canada, with Melissa Tancredi adding the other Canadian goal.
A crowd of 22,054 was announced at BC Place, setting a new CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament record.
In the 2008 Summer Games, Canada was eliminated with a quarterfinal loss to the Americans before finishing in eighth place.
