Abidal pens new Barca deal
Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Barcelona announced on Monday that defender Eric Abidal has signed a new contract with the club that keeps him at the Nou Camp through June 2013.
The France international's original deal was set to expire this year, but the team announced on its website that the new contract includes an option to extend the agreement through 2015.
Abidal has been capped 60 times by France and made 177 appearances for the Catalan side during his four years at the club.
In addition to winning three league titles, Abidal has also helped Barca capture two Champions League crowns among other honors.
