Durant: Westbrook expected back for start of season
Russell Westbrook's torn meniscus was a major blow to the Oklahoma City Thunder's playoff run in 2012-13. If you believe teammate Kevin Durant, that injury won't linger into 2013-14 for Westrbook or the team.
Durant is not a doctor, but the beginning of the season is also well within the expected recovery range for Westbrook's injury. Whether or not he trusts the knee and can move as freely and explosively as before is impossible to know before training camp, but this is a positive sign regardless.
Over the past three seasons, Westbrook has averaged 22.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.1 assists as the 1B to Durant's 1A status. While he can be emotional on the floor and testy with the media, Westbrook is an excellent player and a huge factor in Oklahoma City's chances for the upcoming season.
