Spurrier: "We're not a very good team right now"
Steve Spurrier is not mincing his words after watching his South Carolina football team lose to rival Georgia by a score of 41-30 this past weekend.
Hopefully (the loss) brought us back down to earth. We're not a very good team right now. We've got to work hard to get our stuff together. We don't need to worry about any kind of championships. (USA Today)
The Bulldogs racked up 536 total offensive yards in that game, the most allowed by South Carolina since 2007.
In light of that, Spurrier added "we're going to do some things differently" in their next game against Vanderbilt on Sept. 14.
For Spurrier, it's all about regrouping and galvanizing both the team and the fans in preparation for that next game.
We have some regrouping to do, no doubt about it. We've got to get back to fundamentals and try to coach better – put our players in position and let them play. ... Vanderbilt is a very good team coming in ... Those guys are fast, quick and always in position. They're a well-coached defense on what they do. We're looking forward to regrouping back at home, getting our fans yelling and screaming and making it tough for the opponent to hear on Saturday night.
Vanderbilt is coming off a 38-3 win over Austin Peay.
