Report: Morneau clears waivers
The Minnesota Twins are now reportedly free to deal first baseman and designated hitter Justin Morneau to any team.
The 2006 American League Most Valuable Player has spent his entire career as a Twin.
The 11-year veteran is hitting .262/.318/.423 this season with 14 home runs, 67 RBI and 50 runs scored in 111 games.
Morneau is earning $14 million in the final year of a six-year, $80 million contract, with about $3.5 million still owed to him.
He is a lifetime .278/.348/.485 hitter with 218 home runs, 853 RBI and 663 runs scored in 1262 games.
