Byfuglien looking good in flattering offseason photo
Offseason photos of Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien have, in the past, inspired awe. Byfuglien's sheer enormity - he's usually listed as 6,5 and well north of 260 pounds - is part of what makes him a unique and singular force in the National Hockey League. However, it also results in photographic evidence of his offseason girth being showered with a type of attention usually afforded grainy, staged shots of Nessie or Bigfoot.
Last September, for example, photographs of Dustin Byfuglien at Dave Bolland's wedding surfaced in the lead up to the NHL lockout. Blogger Greg Wyshynski of Yahoo's Puck Daddy blog even dropped a classic "Dustin Byfuglien apparently not locked out of his refrigerator" headline in writing up the candid shots.
During the summer of 2011, following his arrest in Hannepin County for boating while intoxicated (BWI), Byfuglien reportedly weighed in at 286 pounds. In June the Winnipeg Free Press picked up a report claiming that Byfuglien played at 302 pounds just this past season.
Well on Tuesday morning we were treated to a different sort of Dustin Byfuglien summer shot. From Jim Toth of CJOB 680 radio in Winnipeg:
Yes we realize that "professional athlete in good shape" isn't exactly a hot news item.
But it's some lite morning fare, of the sort that Dustin Byfuglien has been enjoying so far this summer.
