Marseille boss Michel vows to stay with club

On a run of 13 matches in all competitions sans defeat, things are looking up for Marseille, and manager Michel has vowed to stay with the club to enjoy the fruits of his labour.

Michel committed his future to the south coast side while speaking with reporters ahead of Sunday's visit from runaway Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

"I have two years of contract and I think I'll stay," Michel told reporters, courtesy of L'Equipe.

Following a summer of overhaul that witnessed the departures of an experienced core of Andre-Pierre Gignac, Andre Ayew, Giannelli Imbula, and Dimitri Payet, Marseille's endured a season of transition. Coupled with only three victories in 13 matches in all competitions to start the campaign, Michel's tenure with the club was in question.

Not afraid to shirk responsibility or blame for the club's struggles, Michel said he values criticism so long as it is legitimate.

"I want people to really judge me on my work," Michel continued.

"We're on the right track. The proof ? Our critics say that we are a stable team. We will get there."

Marseille currently sits eighth in the table following an improved run of form, just five points shy of Nice and a coveted return to Champions League football. Olympique is also still alive in two cup competitions, both domestically in the Coupe de France and continentally in the Europa League, highlighting a return to form for one of Ligue 1's biggest clubs after a run of mediocrity.

Michel appears content to see his vision come to fruition.

"When I signed, the situation was complicated. We were experiencing a down period. Here we are in a situation similar to that of last season. And we have fourteen matches to play."
