Steve Mandanda vows he won't leave Marseille in January
Amid speculation concerning his future with the south coast side, Marseille shot-stopper Steve Mandanda announced on Thursday that he has no intention of leaving the club during the January transfer window.
The Zaire-born French international reached out to OM supporters on his Facebook account to quiet conjecture about his tenure at the club.
"Out of respect for Marseille fans, I decided to break my silence about my future. I hear a lot in the press about me, but here's what it really is," he wrote. "My agent has received offers from various clubs in January. These proposals we have studied, I weighed the pros and cons of what is best for me."
"I've decided to stay at Olympique Marseille until the end of this season. A major reason that pushed me today is my attachment to Marseille. I have responsibilities, I am captain ... My adventure with Olympique Marseille is not an easy adventure, but a story, rather, a part of my life I have built here. I do not know what my future will be done but what matters to me now is to begin the second half of the season with my teammates, to keep my best role of the captain and goalkeeper of OM."
The 30-year-old has been at the Stade Velodrome since joining from Le Havre in 2007 and has made 283 appearances for the club, capturing the Ligue 1 title in 2009-10 paired with three Coupe de la Ligue titles on the bounce between 2009-11.
The three-time winner of Ligue 1's Goalkeeper of the Year honour has started all 19 of Marseille's matches this season.
