Newcastle United head scout Graham Carr's assault on Ligue 1 players continues.

Alexandre Lacazette, who's continued to enhance his glowing reputation with Lyon this term, is subject of a €25-million bid from the Premier League struggler, according to Hugo Delom and Bilel Ghazi from L'Equipe.

Should Newcastle successfully pry the striker from the Rhone-Alpes region, he will join a legion of players who used to ply their trade in the French top flight.

Although Lyon isn't pleased with the Magpies' valuation of last season's Ligue 1 top scorer (with 27 strikes), club president Jean Michel Aulas is apparently keen to see if an agreement can be reached for his most valuable asset.

Unfortunately for Newcastle, Lacazette isn't particularly enamoured with thoughts of living on Tyneside. As one of the first names on the Lyon team sheet, he's concerned about jeopardising his chances to be in France's squad at the Euro 2016 finals held on home soil. He would also prefer Champions League football, and is additionally concerned about French players who flopped at St James' Park, like Hatem Ben Arfa - who is now thriving at Nice - and summer signing Florian Thauvin.

Newcastle is allegedly interested in another Frenchman, and former club loanee, Loic Remy, with the 29-year-old firmly out of favour at Chelsea despite the goalscoring woes suffered by Diego Costa for much of the campaign. Should earlier reports prove correct, Aston Villa is also in the running for Remy.
