Abou Diaby participates in 1st training session since joining Marseille

Luck is finally on Abou Diaby's side.

Olympique Marseille announced Thursday that the French midfielder, one of the most injury-prone players football has ever seen, took part in his first training session since joining the club on a free transfer in late July.

Diaby, 29, is battling his way back to full fitness and could make his debut for Marseille in a month.

"Certainly," manager Michel told L'Equipe, as translated by ESPN FC. "We expect him to progressively start training with the rest of the squad in less than a week. If everything goes well, I'm crossing my fingers, it is possible that he will be playing again in a month."

During a nine-year association with Arsenal, Diaby fell victim to injury at an alarming rate and, according to Sky Sports, spent an unbelievable 2,156 days out injured, more than any other of the club's players since the turn of the century.

Supporters of Diaby are obviously hoping he enjoys a more successful time at Marseille than he did at Arsenal.
