Wenger rules out Giroud transfer amid reported interest from Marseille

Arsene Wenger said he has no interest in selling Olivier Giroud this summer, despite the Arsenal forward being linked with a transfer to Marseille.

"I have had no approach from Marseille and we want to keep Olivier Giroud at the club," Wenger told reporters, according to Jefferson Lake of Sky Sports.

A report from Sky Sports on Monday had detailed the Ligue 1 side's interest in signing Giroud after identifying the Arsenal forward as its top target heading into the summer.

Marseille is reportedly confident that Giroud prefers to return to his home country, and is believed to be willing to pay up to £20 million to secure his services. Still, Wenger insisted he hasn't been approached by the French club.

Wenger also contended that he's paying close attention to the transfer market, with an eye on improving Arsenal even though his contract expires this summer.

"Yes, of course," he said. "I work until the last day of the season for the present and the future.

"Transfer targets are the future of the club and therefore they are very important. What happens with me is a bit secondary, what is important is the future of the club."

After progressing to the FA Cup final with a 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday, Wenger's men will look to keep their hopes of securing a Champions League berth alive when they host Premier League title holder Leicester City on Wednesday.

The north London side resides in seventh place with 57 points, but has a number of games in hand on the four teams above them in the Premier League table.
