Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi has conceded that he may stay with the four-time defending Ligue 1 champ beyond the terms of his contract.

With his current deal set to expire in 2018 after interest in the summer from Juventus nearly saw the French international make the Serie A switch, Matuidi has played down speculation while hinting at an extension in the French capital.

"A lot of things have been said, many of them false," Matuidi told Canal+. "I am focused on the remainder of the season with PSG. I am very happy in Paris.

"I have an excellent understanding with the club's leaders, despite what some people might think. I have a very good relationship with the president."

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi echoed Matuidi's sentiments in August amid transfer speculation, saying, "Blaise Matuidi is under contract with us and we have a very good relationship."

And why wouldn't they, especially after Matuidi's season-saving performance against Metz last week? The Troyes youth product scored a brace, including a late winner in a 3-2 victory against the entertaining Lorraine side to help PSG keep pace with table-topper Monaco.

In his sixth campaign with the capital club, the 56-time-capped international has made 30 league appearances and no fewer than 29 in any of his five prior seasons with the club, highlighting how important Matuidi is to PSG's plans.

Even with a certain place in Unai Emery's three-man midfield alongside Marco Verratti and Adrien Rabiot, Matuidi has left the door open for a potential exit slightly ajar.

"Staying with PSG is a possibility. Is it set in stone? No. I am focused on the end of the season. I feel really good in Paris, and I have no problems here whatsoever."
