Agent: Benteke not joining Paris Saint-Germain

Days after Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce insisted that striker Christian Benteke is not for sale, the Belgian international's agent played down talk of a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Linked with a switch to the four-time defending Ligue 1 champ as a backup plan for Edinson Cavani, Benteke's agent denied an approach from PSG.

"I read it like you, but there are a lot of rumours at this time, and I haven't been contacted either directly or indirectly by PSG," Benteke's representative, Eris Kismet, told L'Equipe.

With PSG summer signing Jese reportedly nearing a loan move to hometown Las Palmas and academy product Jean-Kevin Augustin struggling to carve his first-team niche, a striker to support Cavani has become a glaring need at the Parc des Princes.

Cavani leads the team with 18 goals, while Lucas Moura is second on just six tallies, signalling the urgency to provide the Uruguayan international with some cover.

That's where aerial wizard Benteke comes into play, though after years of mid-table survival and relegation near misses sans a traditional striker, Palace is desperate to keep hold of the player it signed from Liverpool on a four-year deal.

Kismet's quotes should help quell the Eagles' concerns of a January exit for Benteke.

"The player is 100 percent focused on Crystal Palace's project," Kismet added.
