Report: West Ham, Marseille officials to hold Payet talks Monday

Questions surrounding Dimitri Payet's future could be answered over the next week.

Ed Aarons of the Guardian reports that Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud is expected to meet with West Ham officials to discuss details of a possible transfer for the wantaway French midfielder, who told West Ham manager Slaven Bilic he no longer wants to stay at the club.

Payet's agent, Jacques-Olivier Auguste, however, wasn't willing to disclose to Aarons whether discussions are planned.

West Ham reportedly turned down a bid worth £19 million from Marseille, and will hold out until an offer worth £30 million is made.

After initially insisting Payet would not be sold, West Ham officials have since had a change of heart, with vice-chairman Karren Brady claiming in her column in The Sun that the 28-year-old will be sold in an effort to shield players away from his attitude.

After admitting she would not sell him for any price, Brady conceded that "he has been on half-throttle for some time," following his breakout debut season.

Meanwhile, West Ham co‑chairman David Gold claims Payet's family could be behind his unrest as they do not enjoy living in London.
