Agent: Motta won't extend PSG stay

In terms of football's least surprising story lines, Thiago Motta's decision not to stay with Paris Saint-Germain beyond this season is hardly hush-hush.

Motta, whose contract with the four-time defending Ligue 1 champ expires in the summer, appears set to ditch the French capital for greener pastures.

At least that's what his agent is saying.

Motta's representative, Alessandro Canovi said as much in discussion with TuttoMercatoWeb. "I can exclude a contract extension," Canovi said, courtesy of ESPN FC. "There is a very low possibility that this happens. He feels good physically, as evidenced by his high number of appearances already this season."

Since joining PSG in 2012 from Inter Milan, Motta has made 141 league appearances for the club. This season under new gaffer Unai Emery, Motta has featured in 17 of the club's 19 Ligue 1 matches in a three-man midfield typically alongside Blaise Matuidi and Marco Verratti.

Content to dismiss a future at the Parc des Princes, Canovi wasn't as willing to speculate a destination for his client amid reported interest from former club Inter and new money China.

"An offer from a Chinese club? It is too early to talk about that, so for the moment there is no information. There are so many opportunities to be considered at this time."

Motta, 34, has also been linked with a future as a coach, and Canovi is admittedly careful not to burn bridges with PSG in the event an opportunity presents itself somewhere down the road.

"The relationship between Thiago, PSG, and the environment there is perfect," Canovi said. "PSG is his home and he is treated like a son there. He has a deep respect for PSG and the only thing that is certain is that he will not play for another French club."
