Januzaj's agent confirms Lyon talks

Sunderland loanee Adnan Januzaj has held talks with Olympique Lyonnais over a possible transfer, but his agent says nothing will be wrapped up until Manchester United decides if he's up for sale or not.

Once lauded as the natural successor to United great Ryan Giggs after emerging under David Moyes' watch, then handed the feted No. 11 shirt by Louis van Gaal, Januzaj subsequently fell out of favour with the latter manager. He endured a torrid loan spell at Borussia Dortmund last season, but this term was allowed to link up with Moyes again on Wearside by current United boss Jose Mourinho.

After initially struggling to make an impression at Sunderland, Januzaj has been given more of an opportunity in the lineup lately, but that hasn't stopped him sounding out moves that would break his season-long loan.

"Lyon are one of many French clubs who have recently sounded out the plans of Adnan. Out of respect, we listen to everyone," Januzaj's representative Dirk De Vriese told ESPN FC's Ian Holyman.

"The ultimate decision is for Manchester United, and we have not yet heard from them that they want to sell Adnan."

The 21-year-old's contract in Stretford runs until 2018, and if he were to re-join the Red Devils he would currently find the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Juan Mata crowding his path toward first-team consideration.

Whether or not Mourinho sanctions a permanent switch for Januzaj, the winger's agent believes he's put himself in the shop window after some fine outings.

"Adnan was strong against both Chelsea and Liverpool," said De Vriese. "His displays have greatly improved. It's going well, and manager Moyes believes in him."
