Aubameyang says he had summer interest from City, PSG, Real Madrid

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he commanded interest from a number of European clubs last summer before ultimately deciding to stay in Germany.

Aubameyang says he heard of interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Manchester City, with the English outfit holding discussions with his father over a potential move.

"It is true ... there were talks." Aubameyang told French magazine Onze, as quoted by ESPN FC. "My father had some discussions with (Manchester City) but there was nothing concrete in the end."

While a move to City did not pan out, Aubameyang was also linked with Real Madrid, the club he says he dreams of joining one day.

"I think that there was some interest (from Real Madrid) but nothing more than that. I did not get too far ahead of myself.

"I was not expecting a response. I was asked the question in an interview: 'what is the club of your dreams?' I responded: 'Real is the club of my heart and I promised my grandfather that I would play there one day, I hope that it will happen.' There, it is an ambition, I still have time.

"However, I did not do that to get the club's attention and to try to lure them in. I do not think I need to do that today. If they want me, they will come and if they do not come, never mind. For now, all I know is that there has been contact in the past."

As for PSG, Aubameyang said he receives regular contact from the club, though less as of late, and he did not seem too keen on making a return to Ligue 1 anytime soon.

"We'll see. I found their summer-transfer plans ... let's just say I expected that they would sign more players," Aubameyang said. "They're still a big team and I think they'll still be Ligue 1 champions this season. But there are one or two teams who could piss them off.

"At the end of my first season in the Bundesliga there was contact. And the next summer, too. In fact, almost every year. They took it poorly, it didn't happen - that's all I can say.

"I don't especially want to return to France immediately. But it's true that PSG have the ambition to win the Champions League, so they could be interesting for a player like me."
