PSG's Sirigu joins Sevilla on season-long loan
Italian goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu has ended his Paris Saint-Germain nightmare, joining Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the season.
The deal doesn't include a purchase option.
Sirigu fell as low as third in the pecking order at PSG, as Kevin Trapp assumed starter responsibilities last season under Laurent Blanc. Sirigu didn't even get any playing time during the pre-season campaign, ceding the backup role to 23-year-old Paris native Alphonse Areola.
Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli now has a couple of options in goal, with Sirigu set to challenge Sergio Rico for the No. 1 spot.
The Italy international is the 10th signing of a busy summer at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Sirigu played 190 matches for PSG after joining the Ligue 1 giant from Palermo in 2011. He was one of the first signings of the Qatar Sports Investments era, winning Ligue 1 four times, the Coupe de la Ligue three times, and the Coupe de France twice.
Sevilla - which began the La Liga term with an entertaining 6-4 win over Espanyol last weekend - travels to Villarreal on Sunday.
