Tottenham Hotspur is nearing its third acquisition of the summer with an agreement for Marseille's Georges-Kevin Nkoudou edging toward completion.

The Guardian's Ed Aarons understands the France Under-21 winger will cost £10.8 million (€13 million) after a promising campaign that saw Nkoudou bag 10 goals across all competitions.

It's believed that Spurs were initially sighting Lille OSC's creative midfielder Sofiane Boufal - who is allegedly being monitored by Chelsea and Arsenal - but have instead opted for Marseille's nimble-footed youngster.

The 21-year-old spent some of his formative years in the Paris Saint-Germain youth academy, but made his first strides in professional football at FC Nantes. Nkoudou joined Marseille from the Pays de la Loire region last summer for a bargain £1 million.

Considering his storming displays down the left flank - often working effectively with Chelsea new boy Michy Batshuayi - it's unsurprising that Nkoudou turned a few heads. Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham United, Bournemouth, and Sevilla were all apparently interested, and Hamburg tabled an offer, but the Versailles native has started discussing personal terms over a five-year contract, with a medical hoped to be completed within 48 hours.

Clinton Njie could move the other way, but not as a makeweight in the deal. While communication is open between the two clubs, it's hoped a loan can be brokered for the Cameroon forward to return to France, just a year on from his €14-million transfer from Olympique Lyonnais.
